Learning Labs Florida: Ready Schools Florida
Ready Schools Florida is a multi-partner, community-based collaboration that connects school districts, social sector organizations, governmental institutions, and private citizens in an effort to promote universal readiness for healthy child development and learning.
Leveraging the momentum of multiple Florida early childhood and school reform initiatives, Ready Schools Florida enhances local and state efforts to improve child well-being and transform pedagogy among early childhood and educational professionals. The core of the work is rooted in a set of strategies to improve school readiness, academic achievement and healthy child development: A quality rating system for early learning centers; alignment of early education and elementary school curriculum; job-embedded, researched-based, professional development and graduate education; the engagement of family and communities; and school-based health clinics.
Sustainability is an essential component of the initiative’s design. All partners are collaborating to develop programmatic innovations, change how systems operate and affect policy at all levels.
